Wanted: Khmer Teacher in Sihanoukville

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

how about asking your friends down there to teach you ?
បើសិនធ្វើចេះ ចេះឲ្យគេកោត បើសិនធ្វើឆោត ឆោតឲ្យគេអាណិត។

If you know a lot, know enough to make them respect you, if you are stupid, be stupid enough so they can pity you.

they help, i do a lot of self study, and have even learnt some new words since being back, and can now also hold conversations much better than before due to the studying i did when i was back in england, all my friends have been very impressed, but theres still loads i want to learn, its simple enough me asking what a certain word means, but when asking to explain anything more than that they often struggle to be able to do it in english

Get them to explain in khmer. It will seem hard at first, but you'll find that you'll stop using English quite soon.

Jamie about a year or so ago I studied one on one with a teacher that works at Don Bosco. He was good, and helped me a lot. I think I paid monthly, but if I remember correctly it came out to about maybe three dollars an hour or so. His email is [email protected].

I also studied with Mr. Bunly who has a translation service across from Cabbage garden restaurant. Those weren't one on one, but he might offer that too. Also good priced. Both good guys and pretty funny/familiar with foreigners.

You could also just show up to my wife's family's house with some beers, they will speak to you, at you, and about you until you've had enough. Repeat as necessary.

I will teach you for 15 dollar per hour, but after lesson we go to bar and i buy you five shots of tequila. Deal or no deal. I guarantee that people would impress with your khmer but make sure you only talk to people you know.
