Very sad to hear of her passing, a true hero of Khmer Culture.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Norodom Buppha Devi (Khmer: នរោត្តម បុប្ផាទេវី pronounced [n̪ɔroːt̪ˈɗɑm ɓupˈpʰaː~ɓopʰaː t̪eːʋiː]; official title Her Royal Highness Samdech Reach Botrei Preah Ream Norodom Buppha Devi, 8 January 1943 – 18 November 2019)[1] was a Cambodian princess, dancer and director of the Royal Ballet of Cambodia.[2]

She was the daughter of Norodom Sihanouk and the late Neak Moneang Phat Kanthol, the elder sister of Prince Norodom Ranariddh, and a half-sibling of current King of Cambodia, Norodom Sihamoni.

Buppha Devi derives from Pali words puppha (បុប្ផា), meaning flower, and devi (ទេវី), meaning goddess. The name is also romanised as "Bopha Devi" or "Bophadevi".

Buppha Devi finished her high school education at Lycée Preah Norodom in Phnom Penh. As a young princess, her grandmother, Queen Sisowath Kossamak, chose her to become a dancer early in her life.[3] At the age of 15, she became the premiere dancer of the Royal Ballet of Cambodia. At the age of 18, she was granted the title of prima ballerina.[4]

She then toured the world as the principal dancer of the Royal Ballet with Queen Kossamak, performing in public. In the past the ballet had been performed only before royalty to commemorate their dynastic ancestors and to honour the gods.

Buppha Devi served as the Minister of Culture and Fine Arts in Cambodia.

Buppha Devi married her first husband in 1959 at the age of fifteen, and had since then five children from totally four marriages.

21 November 2019, from Khmer news:

Please note that following the arrival of Her Majesty the Princess Bopha Devi on the night of November 19, 2019, there has been outrage from critics on Facebook. They said that the princess should not be transported in such a lowly car.
However, the International Organizing Committee has rejected any criticism, saying that the transfer of the remains of HM the Princess was in accordance with The National Committee for Religious Affairs

This performance was in 1962 when she was only 21.
She is often self consciously acting - but at times she does manage to forget herself and slip into another zone. Those moments are pure magic, grace and beauty.

I would have loved to see her when she became more experienced and accomplished as a dancer.
And her really natural kind of beauty seems totally authentic - quite disarming in a Cambodian high princess.

RIP, Angel -and please send our kindest regards to old Moon Face, your dad.
He will be in raptures to see you dance again.
