to pig out greedily

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

I was born and grew up in the city, but I realise that I don't know many plants and animals if I compare with my friends from provinces. Maybe because in the Phnom Penh we don't have large land to plan the trees and plants. Moreover there are not many animals. I think countryside children know about animals, plants and pleny idioms than children in the city when I asked them to describes about it.
I can't speak for city Cambodians, but I am overwhelmed by my kids and wife when they point out plants to me and not only know the name of what looks like just a weed to me and then proceed to tell me what meal it is used in or what disease it is used to cure. My yard is loaded with them, even kru khmer from neighboring villages come to buy them. We do not sell, but give them seeds or cuttings.
Your family is great! I think it is good to plan rarely plants in the house. If we don't use it, but at least the kids can know it. :-)
