Moto tires on the roof

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

Moto tires on the roof

Post by Luigi »

Why? Why do I see so many worn out moto tires thrown upon the roofs of houses, businesses, where ever I go?
Wonderful breeding habitat for Aedes aegypti.

They're used as weights to stop the roof blowing away...do you not do that in your home country?

He probably likes getting blown away.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Perhaps in some rural settings although I can't ever recall seeing even in Appalachia.
We use things like fasteners, nails, screws, things like that. :beer3:

Please do not allow your fascination to overwhelm you and replace your wonderful posts on culinary adventures.

Tek screws are expensive so the Khmer around here use funny little roofing nails. Often see 2 bits of wood nailed together in an L shape, straddling the ridge to hold the "ridge capping " down.
