FUBAR
Re: FUBAR
Yeah there's no វ. The w isn't a literal transliteration, just the best I could convert it in my head. The vowel doesn't make a w sound, but ទាំ sounds to me like to-wam or toe-am so theres a w kind of there between the oe and the am.andy_morris wrote:I'm still unsure why it is being romanised with a 'w'. As far as I'm aware that vowel doesn't have a 'w' sound attached to it at all.epidemiks wrote:ខ្ទេចខ្ទាំ
K'tech k'twam
Or
ខ្ទេចខ្ទី
K'tech k'tee
My wife says the latter is closer to fubar, with k'twam being more 'pain' than total destruction.
Same with the ch. ខ្ទេច doesn't end with a hard ch sound, but I write it so I know what mouth position I need to bite off the end of the word.
Kuh teh Kuh toeam is perhaps better? Say that 3 times fast.
Anyway, took me about 20 minutes to be able to pronounce it.

ខ្ទេច - Ktech (K'tek) means to be smashed to bits/pulverized
ខ្ទាំ - Ktoam (K'toam) means to be smashed to smithereens/shattered/broken to bits
Mean Dtuk Mean Trei, Mean Loy Mean Srey
