Dreams Predicting the Future???
Re: Dreams Predicting the Future???
I think its possible to focus on material things that you really want in yr life and then make it happen. Some would call that magic or spiritual. I like to believe in a spiritial world and I think yr right probably more women believe than men. I have very few friends who have not been to a psychic at some point.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 8:03 amThey didn't come to pass, you associated something with it and hindsight is telling you you were right. That's the way the horoscope works. "You will have a pleasant surprise" can be easily associated to about 30 different things over a day by your brain. Unless you wrote down very specific outcomes and they all magically happened, well, newsflash: you can't predict the future...Teddy1 wrote:I was convinced of my predictions which BTW did come to pass.
But it's also true that a much larger percentage of women believe in stuff like this vs men. I'm guessing this is cross cultural as well, somewhat related to how our brains work/perceive things differently.

Re: Dreams Predicting the Future???
I’m surprised that you are married to a Khmer woman and were not aware of their believing that things in dreams are predictions/premonitions.
My girlfriend was seriously pissed with me for a long time because she dreamt that I had “romanced” the wife of a neighbour, I can only imagine the shit I would have caught if I had dreamt it and told her.
You made a big mistake sharing your dream with your wife.

Re: Dreams Predicting the Future???
It is a Khmer thing. Khmer in general value dreams a lot and think they are predictive and true.
You might meet an angry wife in the morning because she saw you with a naked girl in some guesthouse room. My standard reply in that case is: 'next time please record the video and show me'. That usually puts her back on earth a bit.
But it goes further than that. If you share your dreams with her make sure you know what you're doing. She might notice signals you totally overlook (or have no meaning to you at all) and twist the meaning of the dream in a very weird way while believing she is right. Minefield I try to avoid.

Re: Dreams Predicting the Future???
They don't mean anything more than your subconscious de-stressing itself by playing out multiple scenarios. As it is on a subconscious level it means logic and sense are gone.
On a similar(ish) topic many many years ago I got talked into seeing a tarot card reader who was meant to be 'amazing' ffs. I went, for amusement only, and picked some cards and listened to this woman tell me my future. I also had to put my hands on a crystal ball and she 'read' my energy. lol. It was a joke and £150 for an hour. What a racket!
But....pretty much everything she said was going to happen to me, has happened to me.
Hmmm.....
Undecided.

Re: Dreams Predicting the Future???
What are you talking about? Focusing on a specific goal, working hard and then achieving it is now considered "magic"? No, it's called visualization combined with hard work. It's not "predicting the future". No offense, but you should pick up a psychology book or something. There's nothing remotely magical/spiritual about setting your mind to accomplishing a task and... accomplishing it.Teddy1 wrote:I think its possible to focus on material things that you really want in yr life and then make it happen. Your right, Visualization is indeed a powerful tool. Infact I create vision boards all the time, which help me focus on my goals, of which I acheive much. No magic. However I do tend to see my world in full colour with infinite possibilities.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 9:37 amWhat are you talking about? Being spiritual has nothing to do with what you believe and everything to do with your state of consciousness

Re: Dreams Predicting the Future???
If there was any way of predicting the future, I would want the winning lottery numbers, or to know which horse will win a race, or what share prices will do. But the truth is, you can't predict the future.

Re: Dreams Predicting the Future???
I also like to understand Cambodian culture, so I often ask questions to learn more. So if anyone has a good understanding of what they believe about dreams predicting the future, please share.
I recently asked 3 different people why some people put things like scarecrows in front of their house. I got 3 completely different answers. So a lot of Cambodians don't even know.
