yeah i love this song too, to help you out the Khmer Script the title says បេះដូងចេះស្រវឹង ច្រៀងដេាយ៖ នាង គន្ធា which says the songs called "Drunken Heart" the next bit says "sung by" and then "Neang Kunthea"
ill upload the Translation shortly mate, in the mean time here is another song of hers i really like, whilst wont hold the same sentimental value for you its a really good song and her singing is hauntingly beautiful


she first came into the spotlight 2 years ago when she auditioned for Cambodia Idol, i don't think she got too far in the competition but she was a big fan favourite

@Freightdog wasnt the easiest song i've tried translating (had to re do it), might be one or two miss interpretations (mainly the bit about the winning numbers in the 2nd chorus) but it will give you a good enough idea of what the song is about...

Actually because I've listened to the song so much, and have a grasp on the language (that is considered above average to my Khmer co-workers for a barang) that I was actually able to pick out some phrases from the song. I asked them about certain pronunciations and learned a lot more just since you translated the lyrics. For example: Min Ngay Plech Soas! (which I was told if I am talking to someone else I should say ey te instead of soas.) It actually inspired me to give learning the Khmer alphabet a serious shot. In fact, tonight I bought a notebook and found some resources online. Of course my wife, who is a Khmer teacher (but gets frustrated sometimes with how I pronounce certain words due to the tones.) is helping me.

There is another song that I would like to request. It is the Pan Ron cover of the "bang bang" song by Nancy Sinatra I think.

yeah i havent come across Soas too much tbh, i find ឡើយ - Laery is a lot more common in the context i think the song was using the word, i find the language used in older songs can be different sometimes

yeah as John Bingham found out a page or 2 back, the songs arent "covers", they use the same music and singing to go with it, but lyrically the songs are usually a lot different and about something different too,

oh and yeah learning to read is a huge help, you should hopefully pick it up pretty quick if youre already familiar with a lot of sounds and words
