The reason they work as bargirls is because they like to be partying with their friends every night. There are many other jobs that they could do. Many restaurants advertise for staff, but that kind of work is boring and requires effort. Also, there are many jobs in factories, that don't pay as well as even their salaries let alone the commissions they make on their lady drink. Many of them have Cambodian boyfriends or husbands and children and their parents to support.

They sleep with foreign men because foreign men pay a lot more than local men, and they don't make any trouble. No Cambodian man would pay $50 for ST. Maybe $10. If you saw they places that they live in you would be surprised how badly people can live, so the concept of a big bed instead of the floor and a hot shower instead of a bucket is something they would find attractive. I have heard many say they don't want Cambodian boyfriends as they treat them poorly. They make pretty good money these days too.

1. someone from their village brought them in to work there
2. their friends work there
3. their not qualified to work anywhere else

Ever read the newspapers about how men in KTV and beer restaurants like pull out guns and fire off shots.

And yes, I also know of many who just work in the bar for drinks and tips. They are often married or in a relationship. Sometimes, it's because they are virgins and want to stay that way until marriage. (Shanghai Bar). None are ever forced to go with a man. Even in Cambodia, there are some functional laws. Yet, you seem to think they are victims. That they don't have choices. There are more jobs here than people to fill them. Plenty of poor girls would never choose to take on that work.
