The bars now

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

And how many bars had to close for those new ones to be open?

Yes basaac and the other places have new bars, but anyone saying they are doing well are lying to themselves

Many hostess bars changed their business licences from bar to restaurant, removed all signage referring to bars, and printed food menus, all as recommended by the local songkat if they wanted to re-open, several months ago.
But this same songkat, and the kahn, then said “no you can’t open - everyone knows you are really a bar with ladies”. I think they were leaned on by their bosses higher up the ladder.

There are plenty of restaurant/bars currently open are effectively just bars with no "ladies" and just the occasional meal.

When do you think the restart will begin? If the vaccines work, perhaps by August\September?

My two cents: they won't open the bars before the schools have been opened. Schools will open October first for the new school year.

Hmm, yes. Even with a duff media, the opening of girly bars before schools would make for very negative headlines.

A lot will have to go back to school anyway. I was told... there is to be some revision and probable re-decorating to the zone map, with possible new reddage, and bars in the yellow could open. This was expected to happen in the next two weeks. I did query it, which frustrated him saying I never listen, or something like that, I wasn't really paying attention. I will have an update today; evidently, I frequent.
