May I post drunkenly...on whiskey?

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

Drunken posting online is endearing.
Drunken rambling IRL is embarrassing.

If you can still parse a sentence, you are insufficiently intoxicated to call it drunk posting. (Is that 1000?)

I have half a bottle of Olmeca...

I think in Cambodia the question should be :

Can I post sober?
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right? ;)

I'd say I'm content with both versions.

Nice post. Makes me want to take up whisky drinking/appreciation again. I used to drink a lot of whisky. Well, not copious amounts, but I was an avid fan. I had a whole bunch of single malts at home and a proper tulip-shaped whisky glass.

I'd never drink a lot at once, but I'd try to appreciate each whisky individually, even blends. It was a bit of an expensive hobby though, especially since I was like 19 at the time or so, so I eventually gave it up. I don't drink much here though as I find other drinks better suited for the tropics (though single malts go for pretty cheap here, maybe I should start up again!). I still remember sitting in the German Bundestag's cafeteria once with a Pole and a Russian (long story) and they were both agreeing that whisky was disgusting. They said it all tasted the same and had an awful taste. I was so dumbfounded at the time that I just listened on and never interjected, but it served at an important cultural lesson. They tasted and appreciated the difference in each vodka brand (while I've never been able to do that, vodka is more of a mixing drink for me), but they couldn't appreciate the same for whisky, which they thought was a primitive rubbing alcohol-type drink. Made me appreciate how regional tastes and upbringing affect's one opinion on a whole range of things.

Many whiskey/scotch aficionados would completely disagree with you about "cutting" your whiskey with ice or a splash of water. It is said to bring out the flavor a bit.

Was reading some article on this. Who knows? The ONLY whiskey I will ever add a non-water/ice mixer to is Jack Daniels. I always have Jack with Coke.. you see, first, a JD double poured neat.... shoot that down the hatch and then I chop up a fat rail of blow on the bar. Anyone else like jack and coke?

He doesn't mentioned anything about water, but yeah, I've even heard some people saying you should add a drop of water from the source used for making the whisky, lol. I used to put trickle of water or just drink it straight. I find the smell of whisky fantastic. But as far as "tasting" goes, I think it's as stupid as wine tasting.

Yes and no - as much as your palate prefers a particular varietal range in wines, it also finds certain malts more appealing, and in different combinations with, say, a cigar or dessert. Doesn't hurt to have a bit of a taste, although I suspect you're more on about once you know your preference, stick with it.
