Re: Jackpot Joker
The winner had previously won the $50 prize and he let the money run onto the next draw, i.e. he had 50 tickets in the draw he won. That gave him decent odds of winning the draw. Of course he still had to pick the right card, I believe there were 7.Doc67 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 12:13 pmI was in there when it went off. I didn't recognise the winner, I had never seen him before, and I recognised virtually everyone else in there. I asked a few other people if they had ever seen him and drew a bank. I asked them to ask others. So far, nobody I know has ever seen him before or knows anyone that has. Funny that...Bongmab69 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 12:08 pm somebody had the joker 2 weeks ago, was 5777 dolaar, niceee. No idea how long it was running, probably sinds newyear ?? Its just fun, i am 90% sure its a "little" scam, they dont put the joker in before at least half the cards are turned (26 weeks or half a year), they just want to make money out of it. I dont care in fact, i useally buy for 3 dollars what gives me a free beer. Wont die from that, and useally i see people overthere i hardly see elsewhere during the year !! And from al the girlie bars, Honeypot is in my eyes one of the better-ones, went there also at "opening-ceremony" in 2015 if i remeber good !! And its still in the same place and the same name, whatsuseally a good sign !!
Re: Jackpot Joker
Where is the GavinMac post about the odds? I remember when he wrote one on TOF when the Walkabout draw got to a similar stage about 10 years ago. Very informative.armchairlawyer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 12:20 pmThe winner had previously won the $50 prize and he let the money run onto the next draw, i.e. he had 50 tickets in the draw he won. Then you obviously didn’t attend too many of the draws “Doc”. The winner was a regular attendee on Friday nights, with his Khmer girlfriend. If you’re insinuating that he was a plant or there was something odd going on, that is totally not the case. That is not how I do business, as you should know - I’ve chatted to you frequently in Honeypot about the bar business.Doc67 wrote: I was in there when it went off. Thanks for your compliments about Honeypot bar, but this part of your post is totally incorrect. The cards are pinned into the display case face down in front of witnesses and then the case is locked. The Joker is in there from the beginning until it is picked. Each Friday night the case is opened for the raffle winner to choose a card and then locked again.Bongmab69 wrote:somebody had the joker 2 weeks ago, was 5777 dolaar, niceee. It was pure chance that the draw ran so long this time. It could get picked really quickly on this next draw.

Re: Jackpot Joker
The “Joker Draw” raffle has been running in pubs in Australia for decades and also in the Philippines. Well before the Walkabout started its big weekly event. There’s no trademark on “Joker Draw”.armchairlawyer wrote:I'm surprised if Front Bar is not using a slighly different name. But here in Phnom Penh I think the Walkabout was the first bar to have Jocker Draw in early 2000 when St. 51 area was hot.

Re: Jackpot Joker
Glenn from the Walkabout originally gave the Joker draw board to his friend who owned the Red Fox and there was a short-lived Joker draw at the Red Fox on 172 for awhile.
Re: Jackpot Joker
Right also at Sharky's but it never attracts large amount of customers.
