How do you KTV?

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

superferret wrote: Tue Feb 27, 2018 10:43 am I never understood these big KTVs, like the ones in Sihanoukville, I always heard they were dens of prostitution with all the girls,
but from the above it seems they aren't really. So how does it work, do the girls who sit with you, will they also go with you? Or do they just sit with you and talk about the weather? Or not even that, just sit with you and drink your drinks and sing? I just don't get the concept. I would imagine if khmer guys go in there spending this much money they would at least hope to have a cute hostess they could at least possible pick up as a girlfriend.
Also stupid question, but how many beers are there in a case?
there is a big misconception about them tbh,
the girls can/do go but theres no pressure, just give them a tip for their time and be on your way,
you get a room, order a box or 2, get a few girls and have a party,
sing some songs, drink, play some drinking games, have a dance,
i never take KTV girls i dont go there to monger i go there for a party and good time

the places arent everyones cup of tea, but as Boluleeh and Rozzieoz would tell ya i love em haha we go all the time

I had the misfortune of going to a KTV with the girls out front or inside, never again!

I read somewhere that some of the high end KTV places roll around $1000/hr!
tbh ive never seen or heard of a KTV that runs at $1000/hr,
Even the VIP KTV at Naga World arent that expensive, i think Boluleeh claimed it came with a price tag of minimum spend $700, so in order to use the room you must spend at least $700+
It was 800$ last time I heard at Naga2, just for the room. Then they like charge 100$ on the bill for your half and you gotta tip them 100$ more for their great service.

Totally not worth it.
tips for the Girls at Naga was $30 per girl, $40 after 1am, dont know where youre getting your figures from mate :unknown:

Let me get this straight: USD 700 to drink fake Whiskey and sit with some uneducated floozy from the boonies that does not speak a word of English and has the intellect of a 6-year old? I think I'll pass....
most of the girls at Naga seemed to be more westernised than your standard KTV girls,
tbh i prefer the countryside munchkins that dont speak English over some full of herself educated wanna be hi-so karaoke girl
Westernized ? Would've say Vietnamized or Chinesed :plus1:

i love the KTVs down KTVstreet in SHV (where your GF place was) only trouble is half the girls have Khmer BFs who hang around outside or constantly drop in from time to time,
i remember i was sat with one girl once and her BF kept ringing up and she kept ignoring it as she was drunk and having a good time, he ended up turning up and sitting on the next table starring at her all creepy like lol

Been there indeed, got the quote, left asap.
Even their hostesses aren't exclusive, you'll find them at Naga1 or Wonderland easily (and spend a lot less).

generally KTV come in 3 classes IMO, low medium high according to facilities, prices, ambience, service and girls, naga would only rate medium IMO as it is not worth the price tag but i had fun in 50$ wooden shack at the farm too, @Jaime_lambo
