Having been to the mustang ranch in Nevada and the red light district in Amsterdam and sampled an asian delight.
In my days when i frequented bars and many early hours at the thermae in Bangkok, is was all not just about getting laid, but fun, hanging out with ur friends and never having to go home alone.
Never thought of them as prostitutes'

Of course the mama san homes are something else as well

When this moderator first visited Asia a long time ago, he didn't think of girls in this scenario as 'prostitutes' or 'hookers' either. Those terms in the western context are very derogatory and the moderator considers them largely inappropriate in the Asian context. Clutch Cargo agrees and reflects on the vast cultural, social and economic differences. A case of 'taking your Western hat off' and 'putting your Asian one on' in this regard and comparing apples with oranges in his humble opinion.

Most folks don't like to think of them as hookers as it offends their own sensibilities, but hide behind defending what the girls here are doing as being 'something different' to prostitution. They are hookers. Customers are Johns. If you don't like being considered as a John, don't bang hookers.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it IS a bloody duck.

Good point there violet. I must admit that when I wrote that I wasn't thinking the fishbowl scenario...rather, the bars and karaoke et al. Def I think fish bowls are more akin to a brothel in the west. And isn't it the case that a girl there pretty much can't say no to a man that picks her? Hence personally I find those scenarios unpalatable and demeaning for women. OTOH the Asian girly bar scenario is quite different I think.

A girl in fish tank can simply ask for a silly price as a way of saying no to further interaction. Girls that do outcalls have a harder time cause there is no one to watch their back.

Yes, that may be the case as jah steu alluded to earlier re the PP one. Then again, I recall in BKK some of those places had a set price that you paid to the management and gave a tip only to the girl for good service. That was back in the 80s tho.
