Re: Explain a barfine please?
LoL! This has turned into quite a debate! ! Damn....
Here's my thoughts..
I've always considered hostess bars a sort of brothel of sorts. I have no problem with that.
However, I know the typical one is NOT technically one.
I believe the typical model here would fly in the States, where prostitution is illegal. As far as the owner is concerned, he let's his staff leave early by docking their pay. I don't think Jah is behind naive. He admits he knows what can happen.
Also, while I would typically only bar fine girls that I plan to take home, there have been a couple times I've taken them out just to go to Pontoon, etc.
Once even led to a chick coming back for free a few times.
I've also had a few bars let me take a girl out for free or just a small fee when I was a regular and they just hooked it up.
I've also been asked MANY times for me to bar fine a girl just to do whatever. Eat dinner, go dancing, etc. And I know PLENTY of dudes that just bar fine them with no intentions to sleep with them.
$10 for tourists or anyone with decent money is not a lot to have a hottie come around with you for the evening.
So, if you have a moral dilemma with women sleeping with men for money, then you shouldn't be a hostess bar owner. But just being a hostess bar owner does not qualify you as a pimp.
Everything in this post is first hand experience, so it's a fact that dudes often pay the bar fines and don't take them back to their place.
And I understand Vlad's point too. However, I feel confident a hostess bar owner would LOSE MONEY if I went to their bar every Friday and Saturday early evening and bar fined all their girls for the whole night and paid them whatever to stay out of the bar. I believe that's almost a fact.
I typically walk into a hostess bar, and if most of the girls are gone, I leave. While I hate paying a $10 bar fine, it really has to be done in most cases, or the bar would fail.
Myself and 2 other posters went to a hostess bar and the bill was a whopping $300! ! ! And to top it off, we took one girl with us without a bar fine too the next bar, no bar fine, of course, LoL. None of us even planned on taking her home. I still frequent that bar because it's generally got a lot of beauties in it.
^ That was Mr Butterfly Bar, by the way.
Also, I go to Loco Bar quite often these days, and ONLY end up buying drinks and drinks and drinks most of the time. From the owner's viewpoint, I'm sure they personally benefit a lot more from my buddies and I coming in for drinks than they would if we all just walked in, each bar fined a girl and left.
I've also ended up at Skirts Bar a few times this past week and our bills were waaaay better for the bar owners than if we bar fined any of them there. And for the record, there was NOTHING there I would even consider bar fining, but it is a nice little bar to meet at for drinks. None of us had ANY plans to leave with anyone there.
And i think hostess bars are safe environments for these girls to be working in. They are NOT pressured to go home with anyone (not by the owners at least). They can make easy money just chatting up dudes, and can EASILY turn down any offer they get to leave the premises.
Shanghai Bar is a good example of a "hostess bar" that does just fine without really letting the girls leave with customers at all.
So, are they "brothels"? No. Are the owners of these typical hostess bars "pimps"? No. Is it a fine line sometimes? Yes, and thank God for that, LoL! !

10 bucks is a ton dude...its like a co-pay at the doctors. The whole point of the co-pay is for you to think twice about going to see the doctor. And let me tell you...the 10 bucks is a make or break for me...."mmmm I like her but 10 bucks just to get her out the door....then will she be a dead duck in bed" Fuck this is hard.
As a tourist its great living here it got old rapidly.

Also I weigh the bar fine in fried rices....10 dollar bar fine=6 or 7 fried rices with pork or beef....or I can get a awesome dinner anywhere.
or 20 ice coffees. which covers 3 days in coffee for me.
Get my point?

Re: Explain a barfine please?
Technically we shouldn't call them pimps.
But what do you call a guy who owns a dodgy bar that makes money because his bar is full of beautiful or not so beautiful girls who may or may not fuck you for money and he has to impose a "fine" because his workers are always leaving to fuck or not fuck but entertain and hug customers?
I still think the closest word to this is "pimp".
Maybe not 100% accurate, but close enough until someone comes up with something better.

You can take girls form Shanghai, at least you used to be able to. You just have to have like a $30 bill when you leave. Which my friends say is way better than a bar fine.General Mackevili wrote:

Shanghai is NOT a good example of a "hostess bar" if only because it's modus operandi and cliental is quite unique. i.e. It's not the norm as far as hostess bars go.
I think they do better, because they don't let the girls leave... until the $30 bill; so it becomes more of a regular drinking hole amongst the cliental.

Yeah, that's a better point!FreeSocrates! wrote:

And I shouldn't have said they NEVER let the girls leave early. You're right, they just have a system in place that makes it much more difficult.
