Dance Clubs/Discos

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

Dance Clubs/Discos

Post by Element5225 »

Hey everyone.

I have been craving some decent nightlife. For those who have gone to the dance clubs, how approachable are the women there? Can you approach and dance with them, and go from there like nightclubs should be? Here in the US, men have been arrested for asking women to dance at clubs for "Harassment" charges. These days in the US, people go in closed off groups, take selfies all night, and will not even speak to you unless they know you! How would people rate the nightlife in Cambodia in terms of men acting like men and women acting like women? Thanks!

(Im sure i'll get some hate filled comments for this one, but I'm not just "looking to get laid" as I have had plenty of sex in my life already.)

I've never understood people who try to "meet" people in night clubs. Especially those if the opposite sex. It's loud, you can't hear each other, it's awkward.... plain sucks unless you want to just enjoy yourself either alone or with friends. You can definitely meet girls at places like pontoon, but they're not normal girls if you know what I mean. The average Khmer girl won't want to "meet" you or be very likely to engage in conversation with some random dude who's trying to grind on her. Sorry to burst your bubble.

In my youth I found nightclubs a wonderful way to meet single women and entice them into my bedroom. There was also no need to pay these women. I get the appeal of clubs back home... it's just in Asia, they don't work that way.

Unfortunately as most of them here are hostesses that have finished work you will have to pay them.

Exactly. You can certainly find prostitutes and grey girls in certain nightclubs, but don't expect to hit up normal girls there. Worst place ever to meet a nice girl. It's fine to bring one or a group there for some fun, but not so much for trying to meet them. For what it's worth, I have pretty good "game" here, but I've never picked up a Cambodian girl straight out of a nightclub (not that I've ever put much effort into it as I don't really like clubs to begin with). Way better places to meet local girls in my opinion, but one could surely meet some foreign chicks there. Always tons of backpacker or expat chicks in clubs which would make for easy pickings if you're into white meat.

I'm a bit out of the club scene now, before getting married I used to go to the traditional dance clubs.(20 years ago :( ) Here you got shown to a table and offered a selection of dancing partners. If you chose one she would join you and $8 went on the bill. She was then your dancing and drinking partner for the night. When you left, if the partner went with you, $8 got knocked off the bill. :D However times have changed, and there are a good selection now ranging from pick up joints to fairly exclusive clubs. Pontoon and Darlin Darlin are "lower end" and would be good starts if your hoping to take your "partner"home. No problems with ladies here

If your just out for dancing / socializing there are some high end clubs, and providing your "respectable" the women are approachable. Many of these ladies are quite well off so be prepared to shell out big bucks.

While maybe 9 out of 10 girls in Pontoon is a prostitute, 1 out of 10 isn't.

A lot of normal "Westernized" Khmer chicks go there, usually with friends which often includes their western boyfriend(s).

Lots of groups of friends go there, which is often a mix of locals and foreigners.

It's definitely a better ratio to bad/goodish girls in places like NOVA Club though. I see mixed couples go there, with friends, etc.

I've met plenty of girls in Pontoon that aren't working girls. A lot being Khmer-Americans, or friends of them, etc.

Last year I remember being there with a British guy and his Khmer girlfriend and some dude came up and grabbed her ass and she knocked the fucker's glasses off with a slap across the face.

And I don't think it should be shocking that the goodish girls aren't as approachable as the taxi girls, but oh well.

I just want to make it clear that all sorts of party people show up at Pontoon at all hours of the night.

Nothing is worse than being out drunk in the clubs at 3am on a work night, debating with yourself if you should call in sick the next day, only to run into your boss, LoL. #trustory

So yeah, nightclubs might not be the absolute best place to pick up nice girls, but it's not impossible or anything.
