changed hands twice since then and appears to be profitable.

It's been sold a couple of times since. The current owner is making a decent go of it from what I hear, but I haven't been by in a while.xxxxxxx wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 11:56 pmI thought the original Garage owner decided to sell because his rent was about to skyrocket and he knew he couldn't carry on at the new rate. As I recall the new owner thought he could make it work despite the ridiculous rent due to his nearby rental river boat business and cross marketing. etc. Not sure how his strategy worked out. I haven't been near there for ages. Did the new guy sell or close the place? I thought he was still holding on.kptic wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 1:18 am OP might have a decent point. Look at Garage Bar. While the original owners operated it, the TOF crowd was always in there spending money, making the place seem lively. Once the place got sold, the 440 inner circle who mostly went to hang out with jm and each other, stopped going there quite as much.

It was always profitable if not hugely, the apartments above pay most of the rent anyway.

Larry's provides some stiff competition.
not a huge difference in prices taken by and large.

Landlords don't give a fuck if you can make it or not. They want their rent and that's it. If you fail they keep your deposit, jack up the rent even more, and find another sucker.
"The revolution did more than legally create the United States; it transformed American society... Far from remaining monarchical, hierarchy-ridden subjects on the margin of civilization, Americans had become, almost overnight, the most liberal, the most democratic, the most commercial minded, and the most modern people in the world." - Gordon S. Wood

Why are you bumping up old posts to say they are TLTR ? You are posting 30 times a day to say not very much, except to comment on threads that you can't be bothered to read. Maybe time to go outside and get some air ?
