Well, looks like the days of brand excess dirt cheap Zara items in discount clothing stores are numbered

ZARA is at the Houston Galleria mall. I didn’t find their prices medium to low. Rather luxury indulgence, in the $50-100 dollar range.

Missus prefers Wal Mart, TJ Maxx, and Ross, except lots of clothes don’t fit her. And children’s clothes aren’t her style.

Shein (Chinese clothing brand) on Amazon seems to have better fitting clothes. $5-20 dollars for a dress.

I checked out their website for /kh and they might want to rethink their marketing for Cambodia.

for the womens section, and what is the default when entering the site we get this stunning young lady.

I might not be up-to-date on what passes for a model these days but, in my opinion, for some reason this lady doesn't fit the bill.

But, the mens section gets this.

Given the average cambodians obsession with attaining a pearly white complexion I can't see this image helping them to sell clothes.

I thought I'd check out their shirts and for some reason they seem to have a Somali Pirate theme going on for their male models.

How ZARA Built a $13 Billion Empire Without Traditional Advertising
Monday May 08, 2023, 3 min Read

ZARA, a Spain-based fast fashion retail clothing brand, has become a dominant force in the fashion industry. Founded by Amancio Ortega in 1975, the company has grown to be the largest in the sector, boasting over 2000 stores across approximately 96 countries. Unlike most other major brands, ZARA has not spent a single dime on traditional advertising while building its $13 billion empire. In this article, we will explore the key strategies that have contributed to ZARA's meteoric success.

Understanding Fast Fashion
The concept of fast fashion revolves around the rapid production of inexpensive clothing by mass-market retailers in response to the latest trends. Previously, the fashion industry was largely seasonal, and it took months or even years for trends to reach the general public. ZARA revolutionized the industry by addressing this market discrepancy and offering the latest designs with average quality at affordable prices.

Speed and Efficiency
One of ZARA's key strengths is its ability to introduce new collections in just four weeks, as opposed to the industry average of four to six months. This shorter lead time allows the company to offer customers what they want when they want it. Additionally, ZARA creates a sense of urgency among its customers by taking pieces off the shelf within 30 days, boosting sales.

Inspired by Toyota's 'Just-in-time' production system, ZARA's supply chain skips the storage process, delivering fresh garments straight to the stores. This significantly reduces inventory management costs and creates artificial scarcity, making ZARA's products more desirable.

Design and Variety
Instead of producing large quantities of a particular design, ZARA focuses on offering a wide variety of styles. The company introduces 12,000 new designs annually, compared to the industry average of 2000. This approach makes it easier for ZARA to dispose of pieces that fail to gain traction, resulting in fewer time-bound sales with smaller discounts than its competitors.

Customer-Centric Approach
ZARA keeps a close tab on customer preferences and adapts its product offerings to suit the unique needs of its target markets. Examples include offering small-sized clothes in Japanese stores and large overcoats and boots for European stores.

I like to buy Zara V neck T-shirts when I go to Saigon. I hope that they will have these T-shirts here in Phnom Penh.

Hah, you are a funny guy. Don't take this (too) badly, but a lot of your posts on CEO are anti-mainland China, yet you don't seem to have a problem with your wife shoring up the Chinese economy and the US-China import-export imbalance with her "Made-in -China" clothes purchases. :plus1:
(Walmart and Shein - Chinese owned vs Zara - Spanish/European company.) Not judging you personally. We all buy Chinese these days.
But maybe you should think about this ?

on a side note I read the post above and it screamed AI generated. I opened the link expecting to have to find some evidence of it being AI generated but right at the top we have the author Nucleus_AI with 223 stories.

In defense of NKOTB, most clothes (of all price ranges) are made in Bangladesh or Sri Lanka etc. China is a major exporter, but not so much of clothes. Of course they often own the factories in the country of production.

As Warren Buffet said last week, most clothing companies overstocked last year and are holding high levels of inventory which they will need to discount heavily to shift, or more likely sell to the discounters such as TJ Maxx. Zando should be getting a lot of this too.
