Tax payment

Post by lordofmisrule »

Hi guys, does anyone know if it is possible to pay tax on behalf of employees prior to the business actually being registered as such?

Cheers in advance

Nope, it's not. To pay tax, you need a literal company stamp - which is issued at the end of the registration process. All tax documents must be stamped with the company stamp.

Although there are a couple of older guys that work in every tax branch, if you just go and silently hand them money they'll make sure it gets into the right hands.

I'm one of them, just bring the cash, I'll meet you at Larry's, and I'll write you a receipt.

Stroppchops: thanks, I ask beacause I have almost been told that the company I work for is not registered so I wonder where my tax has gone this last two years? ( almost been told means it's been hinted at/ alluded to by the accountant.

They've probably just been scalping it. It's up to your employer to pay tax so they are in the wrong. You should study the labor laws, you are probably covered by them. I've seen successful outcomes of labor court disputes here where unfairly dismissed people got good payouts. Depending on who you are having the dispute with this might or might not work.

This. To the best of my knowledge there's no actual requirement for paid workers to declare income, it's solely on the employer to declare and pay. Always sucks to know you're being scalped though, whether it's this, or the landlord on-selling your power or inflating the rate, or even just paying the extra 25c on a barrel of water.

I think it may be finding it's way into pockets that it shouldn't be in, its no big deal it just annoys me that these people are not honest with me.
