Re: setting u business in Cambodia
Personally I would bill them in EUR, paid into a Euro bank account and transfer myself, you can then transfer a larger amount and lose less through bank fees.
For invoicing, just get a cloud accounting package (Quickbooks, Xero etc.) Only cost around $10-$20 a month depending on what you use and is more than enough for a business of the size you are talking
Re: setting u business in Cambodia
It all depends on the customers in Europe, if they're a company and they need a "proper" invoice with all the required information (to be tax compliant) then you'll have to register proprely in order to give them what they're asking for which can be become a hassle really fast as mentionned earlier.

By September '18 there'll be either a visa class to suit freelancers, or 'virtually' impossible, which is the current situationb ad I understand it to be (a friend trying to renew at present as a freelancer and having lots of trouble without letters from properly registered Cambodian business clients). If the latter continues, you will need to rely on your business registration to get visa extensions.james1234 wrote:
I think it is possible at this moment to aply a EB (business) visa as freelancher, what I actually am. So it must be possible to get work permit.
You're not planning to export physical published materials out of Cambodia are you? That will be painful, not to mention expensive, and the quality of printing here leaves a lot to be desired.
Re: setting u business in Cambodia
I already thought that might be a problem, and I think I would have to register at GTD as "very small" business below 5000$. Has anyone experience with that?By September '18 there'll be either a visa class to suit freelancers, or 'virtually' impossible, which is the current situations ad I understand it to be (a friend trying to renew at present as a freelancer and having lots of trouble without letters from properly registered Cambodian business clients). I am sorting out the printing part at the moment. Would like to print in Cambodia (support the economy of the country), but getting offers from printers here is difficult. Have a Khmer trying for me next weeks.You're not planning to export physical published materials out of Cambodia are you? Another option is printing in China, where I have experience and contacts. Will have to pay import tax than, I suppose.
Yes I want to sell abroad too, via internet and others. Have not sorted out shipment from Cambodia (sales start 10-2018, so there is time). I also can have stock for shipment in China and ship from China, which is cheap.

If you are selling over the internet why not just sell PDFs of your work. If they can buy over the internet , then you know they have access to a computer or smart phone and they get the product immediately and no shipping. If you do it properly I don't know how they would know where you are so no tax issues

I have been Publisher for 30 years. I know about selling pdf,s and ebooks. Have done that. I just love to make nice glossy magazines in paper. In this digital times there is still a big market for it. Shipment costs dropped immense last years. Shipping a magazine from China costs only 0,99$. So just have a service in China for shipping. Don't know anything about shipping from Cambodia. Still have to find out. Will have my Khmer friend have look into that. We are now working on publishing license, another annual paper that costs time and money. Application in Khmer pleaseIf you are selling over the internet why not just sell PDFs of your work. You may need a publishing Licence issued by the Government.

OP, if you are serious about it all you stop guessing, you stop using non-government websites as an official source, and you make an appointment with a knowledgeable accountant like PWC. Your first half hour or hour will probably be free of charge, and that hour might prevent you from making a thousand expensive mistakes over the next years.
The accountant might also tell you that even though Cambodia has loads of laws, law enforcement is a different story.
<edit>
and of course, after consulting them, feel free to report back here.
