Olive and Olive has terrible wine. I guess they have stopped burning the pizza. The last time I ate there they burnt the pizza, which had all of four tiny bits of pepperoni on it and a few crumbs of cheese, and burnt all the free bread. I've eaten in Snooky's twice, and both times the food was shite, the Sunday lunch was shit, cold plates with half of it having obviously sat around for ages waiting for the rest, and the Thai food which was god-awful. Having a menu like a novel means you never get any good at any of it. Stick to a small menu and get good at it and people will eat there. Assuming they know you exist - some marketing is essential. And yeah, if you cater to the khmer you'll always be busy.

No, never heard of the pizza place.
A $5 buck pizza here or anywhere is gonna be shit, that's a fact.
even saying its a real pizza, i bet no one returns and what do u figure the profit on that is, $.50??
add in $.75 drafts not a good business :please:

photo of Olive and Olive is accurate.
had one there with Jamie not so long ago.
it is an awesome deal for the money.
i really like that place.

OP I regret being so negative.
if you can do something exceptional the world may well flock to you.
even something as simple as burgers still has potential.

Cambodia is a fairly low cost environment for taking a gamble.

but honestly, keep it super small and cheap whatever you do.

i dont understand? its one of the most popular restaurants in SHV its on the golden lion roundabout, its not some happy pizza place its a propper italian restaurant and its not that cheap either (other than the $5 pizza, which draws the backpackers in), the place has a good reputation in SHV and is ranked #8 out of 239 restaurants in SHV

its thin crust pizza, 200g of flour spread out to a large area, throw in local ingredients and little meat, its doable, the main jizz is that people come in for 5$ pizza but usually ends u ordering more.

The OP ought to consider working for no more than bed and board, an apprenticeship of sorts, to learn the ropes and the prices.

Great advice,

I've had my place for a year but had enough to keep it afloat while I was building up trade. Keeping it simple and sticking to what you do well also helps.

The main thing I've learnt is that you have to be in the place regularly to attract solid support, build a rapport, keep an eye on the service and there you go!

Best of luck to the OP
