Ministry Says French Football Group OL Used Forged Logo

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 25 October 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation published a notice rejecting a letter which was published by the French football group, OL Group on 13 May 2022, which used the forged logo and seal of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry declares that it has never issued this letter or allowed the above mentioned company to do business in Cambodia.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation calls on relevant authorities to investigate and take legal action against this case as soon as possible.

‘Mystery’ of business letter purportedly issued by French Ligue 1 club, which used counterfeit stamp of the Ministry of Defense


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has issued a full rejection of a letter purportedly released by the French OL Group – believed to connected to French Ligue 1 team Olympique Lyonnais – dated May 13, 2022, as the Ministry has never issued this letter or allowed the company to do business in Cambodia.

The letter (below), bearing an official letterhead and stamp, states in English and Khmer that it is a ‘Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation‘

It further states that ‘The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia has approved the French OL football club to enter the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Royal Government of Cambodia allows OL Group Le promote and develop in the region.

OL Group must comply with the laws and regulations of the Royal Government of Cambodia, which has the right to investigate all tax data.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has called on the relevant authorities to investigate and take legal action to solve this case as soon as possible.

A social media page, under the name ‘OL Football Cambodia’ released the letter on September the 24th with the announcement that the OL Groupe had received permission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to open a business in Cambodia.

People told not to invest with unlicensed OL Group

The General Secretariat of the Commercial Gambling Management Commission of Cambodia (CGMC) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has appealed against online football betting and other types of investment in commercial gambling with OL Group or OL Football Club, according to an announcement.

CGMC has never granted licence to OL Group to run any commercial gambling in Cambodia and rejected any promotions or advertisement that says the company is a legal commercial gambling firm that has been operating in providing football betting online and attracting the public to invest with it, it said.

“As mentioned above, the public and relevant individuals are, please, be notified and pay attention,” the announcement pointed out, adding the activities OL Group that that CGMC has found being promoted on social media channels are illegal.
