Maybe that's still the case with some small hotels catering to local customers only. Overall I'd say it starts around $250. Might not sound like much difference to us but for Cambodians $50 a month is a huge difference

Is receptionist really a middle class position? But yeah I think on average in Phnom Penh hotel receptionist earn $250 now days.

Local friends who are office workers in Phnom Penh earn on average $700-$800. These are people in late 20s and early 30s with almost 10 years of work experience and university education. Few who are in finance, law and IT earn $2000-$3000 even (I didn't count them in that average though).
