Sailun evaluating car tyre production in Cambodia

Sailun Group is considering setting up a plant to produce tyres for passenger vehicles in Cambodia. According to a feasibility study published today, the Chinese tyre maker is interested in building a facility within the QiLu (Cambodia) Special Economic Zone in Svay Rieng Province that is capable of making five million semi-steel radials a year. Sailun estimates the project will require an investment of 1.18 billion yuan (£130.5 million).

Firm eyes Svay Rieng to set up tyre factory

China's Sailun Group Co Ltd is considering setting up a plant in southeastern Cambodia to produce tyres for passenger vehicles in the Kingdom.

According to a feasibility study revealed in a report published by Tyrepress Media, the tyre-maker is interested in building a facility within Svay Rieng province’s QiLu (Cambodia) Special Economic Zone that is capable of making five million semi-steel radials a year.

Located 4km from the Svay Rieng town centre and operated by Qilu (Cambodia) Economic Co Ltd, the special economic zone has a total planned industrial area of 360ha in two phases of development to house leading industries such as garment manufacturing, food processing, machinery, electronics and light-industrial factories.

The first phase will cover 213ha and second will add 147ha. The project will require an estimated investment of 1.18 billion yuan ($181.4 million).

Sailun’s Cambodia factory begins tyre production

Sailun’s Cambodia tyre factory manufactured its first tyre on 1 November 2021. Symbolic launch aside, production proper began the following week with the goal of reaching full speed by 18 November 2021.

Another Chinese tire factory ready to set up business in Cambodia:

Celimo Tires to invest $300 million in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone
China Daily – Celimo Tires project, totaling $300 million, landed in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) in Preah Sihanouk province, Cambodia on Friday. The project is invested by Hodo Group, a private enterprise in Wuxi, Jiangsu province. It is the largest industrial project in the zone.

Zhou Haijiang, board chairman of Hodo Group, together with staff at SSEZ, witnessed the whole process at the “Upgrading of SSEZ” video conference in Wuxi.

“The factory will go into operation before the end of next year. The output is expected to be 6 million tires a year, and the factory is expected to provide 1,600 job opportunities,” Gu Cui said. The tires will be sold to the United States and Brazil.

Good news for Cambodian workers if thier treated right but I doubt it.
Say's alot about china when thier exporting there manufacturing.

Jiangsu General: May start for Cambodia plant

Chinese tyre maker Jiangsu General Science Technology intends to open its new plant in Cambodia during the first half of this year. The plant in Cambodia will be equipped to produce almost 6 million tyres a year.

The General Tire Technology (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. facility now being set up in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone is expected to enter production in May with a capacity to manufacture 5 million semi-steel radial tyres and 900,000 all-steel radial tyres.

On 20 February 2023, the board of directors of Doublestar reviewed and approved the proposal to build a factory in Cambodia. The tyre manufacturer reportedly plans to establish a joint venture with UBE Development Co., Ltd in order to complete the plans.

First tyre rolls off Jiangsu General Cambodian factory production line

On 18 March, 2023, Jiangsu General’s Cambodian factory produced its first tyre, which means the tyre maker’s second overseas factory is now ramping up its production capacity. Jiangsu General said that the products of the Cambodian plant are mainly produced under the Celimo brand and are sold in the United States, Europe and Brazil.

Cambodia did used to be thr #1 exporter of rubber in the World, would seem to make a lot of sense.
