Buying shares - Angkor Resources Corp
This will be fun - i am just about to try and buy some mining shares for the first time since high school days.
Angkor Resources Corp. Canadian listed, TSX V (Venture exchange, "small caps")
Only want 1-200 bucks worth, not sure if i can do that yet.
I'm backing onshore oil over off-shore and "you gotta have skin in the game".
ARC also has a 10 year history of genuine hard scrabble gold exploration in Cambodia.
No big finds but we know they have guts and resilience.
Share price steady 85% downhill over past 5 years - risen 15% in past fortnight.
but i'm only in it for the ride.
Anybody out there have any experience in wildcat share buying in the Cambodian minerals sector?.

You should [ try ] to set up a small investment company, whether it be in Cambodia or overseas , maybe in a tax haven country to buy these shares. I am sure you could get smalltime investors from CEO to put minimal amounts of cash in so they can get experience in the stock market.
The object would be not so much to make money but to learn / teach about the stock markets.
If it worked out OK, maybe some English teachers could get their students to buy shares in the company as this would give them experience in their future professions as accountants or finance.

Spoiler:
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

95% of amateur traders lose money. If you encourage, or give advice to someone, and they lose money, they will blame you. Buy shares yourself if you want to, but don't advise others. Even professional traders make money on some trades, and lose money on others.

Yes very true, but then so do professional investors. Lehman Brothers went bankrupt with $691 billion in assets (2008). 50,000 runners participate in the New York Marathon every year, only 1 person wins but people keep coming back and trying again and again. Sometimes logical, safe thinking and planning result in a dull and uneventful life. The only sure way to do nothing wrong is to do nothing. Good luck, it is really no better than buying lottery tickets but it is nice to have dreams and that is what they are really selling.explorer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 9:24 am 95% of amateur traders lose money. Do it yourself by all means.Anthony's Weiner wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:22 amYes very true, but then so do professional investors. I have small investments myself.
If you are going to give advice, the people you give advice to need to know they may lose. They will almost certainly lose on some trades.
If you are dealing with intelligent people, who really understand, there should be no problems when they lose.
If you encouraged any Cambodians to invest in shares, and they lost, there may be payback, because you gave them bad advice. Cambodians can be superstitious. If you are at a casino, and they bet on black. You come along and bet on red. In their mind, you brought them bad luck.
Even some people on this forum (not all) are simple people. The same thing. They have little understanding of the risks. At the least, expect them to be angry at you if they lose.

My advice:
Only invest in a market, in a country where there is proper rule of law.
Only invest in a company which operates in a country where there is proper rule of law.
Don't invest in Asian stock markets.
Don't invest in Asian companies.
Don't invest in Cambodia, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc.
Read the topic about the casino near the border. Someone should know the link. Some suggested it was a stock market scam.
Just my advice. You are all free to do what you want. It is just that there are a lot of scams in Asia.
