Affordable city to start bar business ?
Hi guys,
I’m retire and I’m looking for peaceful city to start bar/ restaurant business. Can you recommend me a good city that is not full of expats yet or at least a place where catering business still works ! I was thinking about Kromp kep or koh kong but I’m also open for places without sea and beaches!

Let me explain. Unless you retired with a couple of mil in yer pocket, you won't survive no matter what city/town you choose. There's no money to be made from catering for barangs. You will need to either go local or cater for the Chinese. And the latters are tighter than a fishes arse.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

can you make curry or chili con carne or anything the missionaries here don’t have on the menu allready ?
( i swaer they have an excellent menu . ). I am not a big eater , but you would definitely have the only bar in town !
And if you sold good beer I would come everyday ... i might even start drinking gin or wodka or rum ! Again ...
.. it’s a terribly dismal place ..
no dock on the bay like the only good place cambodia ever had to live at ..
With all the exodus’s every place you never know anywhere ... but i know there are worse places than here ...
it IS peaceful as can be ...
Goood luck !

Is that a tuck shop near Eton?

Travel around and talk to other people running bars/restaurants and see how they are going. Expect to lose money.

You could be next.

You will be the first for sure in Kom Moum:

Rents are still low and you could rent on the National Highway.
Might be struggling to find a decent client base though...

Koh Kong has a few western run bars/restaurants already. They don't get much business. There are lots of Cambodian places plus some Thai and Chinese. If you can bake there is no good bakery yet.
