Re: ABA Bank to Suspend Personal Internet Banking Services
You can use wifi, no need to use roaming as there is no need to use Cambodian phone number on your mobile while using the app. When I'm overseas, I put my Cambodian phone number to my old school Nokia phone and keep it in safe place and just top up it once a month or so with $1 to keep it alive if I'm longer period out of the country. Then I use ABA app with wifi / local mobile data in which ever country i am at that time. And just keep your mobile backed up. If something happens to your mobile, you can just restore it from the back up and ABA app works like before.clutchcargo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:26 pmIf you're overseas, does the Cambo ph number need to be set up for international roaming for ABA banking? Or does it work anyway (as long as it was set up originally in KOW as you say). I vaguely recall asking Smart can I set it up for roaming when I went to Malaysia and I think they said no.
Acleda gave me a OTP dongle for non app/browser banking overseas but they charge me 50c/month for that. Dunno if I can use their app overseas.

Nope, you don't even need the Cambo SIM in your phone when overseas for the app to work. It is just for setting it up. I suppose if you had roaming on your Cambo SIM it may be possible to set up the app abroad because you receive a verification Pin via SMS.clutchcargo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:26 pmIf you're overseas, does the Cambo ph number need to be set up for international roaming for ABA banking? When I was overseas my phone shit itself so I needed a new phone, couldn't get the app on my new phone as Cambodian smart card expired, so I set myself up for I banking as a backup, now it's going to be useless

This, I barely ever use my internet banking, but maintain it just in case lose/damage phone/SIM when abroad... really stupid move by ABA to get rid of I-banking.

I make sure I top my card up now, get someone here to buy me top ups ,

You can top up using the ABA APP or a plethora of others, Wing, ACLEDA etc.atst wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 5:51 pmI make sure I top my card up now, get someone here to buy me top ups ,

@atst ...you know you can purchase phone credit top ups via the ABA app right, no need to get people in Cambodia to buy for you.
Re: ABA Bank to Suspend Personal Internet Banking Services
I also always carry my old phone with me when travelling and take that out at night which allows for texts google maps etc with a local sim and local wifi. My new phone, with all my banking apps, never comes out for a beer with me, I am terrified of losing it.
PSD-Kiwi makes a good point. Apps might work fine abroad in your recognised device. But lose that device while abroad and you are screwed. Get robbed of your device and your ABA card and you really are up a gum tree. Anybody have a written note of the ABA Lost and Stolen Visa Card number, or is it in your phone?

Re: ABA Bank to Suspend Personal Internet Banking Services
No. Because I’m assuming your phone is protected with a pin or Face ID and you’d simply buy a new phone download the app and login. You don’t need a Cambodian phone number.
If you’re ‘terrified’ of that then I’m sure you need help to do this simple stuff.

I never received an email from ABA pertaining to this. I can't find anything on this in their website and I just spoke with one of their representatives and she had no idea what I was talking about.
