Please share your stereotype about Cambodia or Cambodian especially before you moved in. I will share ours afterwards. :beer3:

The Vietnamese plant the rice, the Cambodians watch the rice, and the Lao listen to the rice grow…

There are child prostitutes everywhere, the streets are lined with skulls, beyond that there are only land mines. Everyone is poor.
Don't go there, it's really dangerous and you'll only get kidnapped. This was the advice I got from a travel doctor before I first came here around 15 years ago.

i heard it was an easy place to get along- with few onerous rules and regulations- but also not a place to misbehave if you don't like consequences.

what i found pretty much conforms to this.

Most all male expats living in Cambodia are at the end of line, broke, drug addled kiddie fiddling criminals who are knocking on hell's door.

This is only half right.

Before I came to Cambodia I heard that the people here were very poor. What I didn't expect was the extent of the extragavent displays of the rich elite, and also some of the NGOs - so many Lexus etc.

Interesting question - I will have to think about it a bit.
