Anybody eating with me, when I pay or not, knows that everything ordered must be finished.
Knowing the consequence for her, the girlfriend would not even try to order something that she couldn't finish, she even order less, then later order more if she is still hungry.

Was the food as good as the prices?

I’m just curious. Not that the thought has ever crossed my mind. Of course not.
If it's food they are not familiar with as regards to taste/ portion size or price/value, I think it would be quite acceptable to put some suggestions in. It's nonsense to order expensive mains that just end up nibbled at. Suggest ordering some more food or a dessert or whatever if they still happen to be hungry after a few dishes.

The objective for me is to have a good night, my partner orders what ever she wants. Whether my partner eats everything or a portion as long as she is happy that's all that matters, cost is not an issue. There has been on occasion that there are some leftovers. If its something like King Prawns or BBQ ribs she gets a "doggy bag" and has the remainder with her sister the following day. Three people happy rather than two. Win Win :D

Knowing the consequence for her -- you rammed it down here throat right there in the restaurant?

What? haven't any of you heard of female emancipation and equal rights. Do you not understand the degradation women suffer every time you insist on picking up the tab? get with it, go dutch and let her eat what she likes
