Post by StroppyChops »

Might have been asked and answered previously, but sellers for Hero GP3s or (preferably) good clones? Any knowledge of local prices?

Local prices are pretty good now. On par with western prices. Check out the Nikon shop on the eastern side of Monivong just before central market. They usually have the best priced and the most accessories.

Thanks BKL - I assume price parity means around $300?

StroppyChops. Awesome share on the above "contenders" link. I looked at all of them. Even tho I drive a very modest Honda Wave 100cl, I still want to record at least 720p video at a decent frame rate. Reason - show how fucking insane driving on 2 wheels can be in Phnom Penh. Also for country side excursions. Capture the beautiful country side. Bokor Mountain would be cool.

That Sunco Dream 2 on the list looks great. Might have the parents bring it over from the US for me via Amazon
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

I'm looking at options with Aliexpress, but also found a 1080 clone with all the accessories at Central Market. Bong Svrey is sticking on $150 even though I can get it from China at $90 plus freight and risk. Looked to be a very good system, has the colour screen which is an improvement on the GPs... might take it at $130 if I can get her down to that point. After seeing some of the contenders I know I won't be paying $400+ for an original GP. Same deal, I want to stick a camera above the front wheel hub on the tuktuk and get some footage of peak hour - obviously I'd tether it with security cord to prevent a snatch and grab.

I'd also like to play with one of these cameras on a quad-copter around PP and in the provinces.
