Thanks for your help everyone. It’s a very difficult and complicated situation that’s been ongoing for many years. This is just the most recent episode.
One final question for this group, is it possible for travellers to get cash in hand work whilst they’re there or is it near impossible? I’m being told the latter repeatedly, but keen for a different perspective.
Tell them they have one month and then Cut them off.
agree to prepay a ticket home.
they need get their shit together an ur not helping
as to ur question, Pre covid there were places on the islands hiring kids, young adults to work for $10/day, room and board
but i doubt that is gong on now
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Wealthy Khmers or Chinese men would renumerate them very generously for any services rendered.

Ignore the private battles that are raging here and the judgy stuff. Now they have been found alive and well, it is now open season on them (just the way it is)MarlaMitelman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 10:39 am I’m going to ignore the personal comments made about my niece as they add nothing to this discussion.

Work is hard to come by here unless you have a sought after skill. Casual, cash in hand type work is very low paying and locals will do that willingly. Not many westerners are prepared to work for 8 hours, 6 days a week for $300 a month.
You should check their visa status, if they have overstayed it is $10 per day, each. No excuses accepted.
As I previously posted, they are not trapped here. Singapore Airlines are now flying from Phnom Penh to London and it is $950 each. Buses from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh are less than $10 each. They are not trapped and don't let them tell you otherwise.
Good luck.

No possibility of work for them in Siem Reap, or anywhere else in Cambodia. Too many unemployed people so competition is brutal.

They don't need money.
They should be able to absorb nutrition from Ra who will feed them through the sun rays when they reach kundalini awakening during their daily 4 hour meditation sessions they do when most people are at work.
Sekhmet, the goddess of healing is connected to Ra so she will sort out any health issues they might have.
Somewhere to sleep and a mirror to do their makeup in shouldn't be an issue too as they are self proclaimed 'nomads' so they should be used to sleeping under the stars by now. Ratri the Vedic goddess of the night will protect them.
They will need money for their flight though. Those damn ticket collectors and boarding pass people! So I suggest you go ahead and book them a one way ticket home.

last week I flew Phnom Penh to Zurich via Seoul and Munich.. Am sure the last leg Munich - Zurich could be replaced with a UK leg. Planes were at about 30% capacity so plenty of availability

They would be taking money away from locals, who really DO need it.MarlaMitelman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 10:39 am I’m going to ignore the personal comments made about my niece as they add nothing to this discussion.

Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

Always "hope" but never "expect".
