World clean up day
World clean up day
How do you guys feel about this? Have you ever donated your time to this cause? I've seen Khmer throw a bunch of plastic debris and shit down the riverbanks, on the walkways and in the river - right in front of these volunteers as they're trying to do a good thing.
Talk about being spit in the face!
Why the F can't Cambodia leadership take initiative and have police issue fines for litterers?

Re: World clean up day
Yes, its world clean up day once again. It was a few years ago when I was invited for a chat about this, by the organiser of this campaign, particular in Cambodia and the city of Phnom Penh. The person who runs this project here is so dedicated in their efforts too make a difference in the country. I think in some respect it is working, firstly with education. I have also known individuals carry on the clean up work, because they believe every little bit helps.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Not very familiar with PP, but looking at Kampot today compared to how it was 10 years ago -- the difference is extreme!AndyKK wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 1:25 am Yes, its world clean up day once again. How they managed this change I do not know, but would not be surprised if education and clean up efforts played a big part.
Clean up efforts shows people (if only for a short time, at least back in the day) how nice the place can look and feel if properly maintained.
And education (especially for children) will make people start raising questions about common behavior and not just go with the flow.
That is what I believe.
Money can't buy happiness but it can buy beer
