The reason Thai expats say bad things about Cambodia is because they purchased a house in bumfuck Issan with some Thai skank who was a former BJ queen of Nana plaza (and put in her name) and now the can't leave without losing everything. :beer3: :beer3: :beer3:

I've never really felt there was a real "expat circle" in Thailand compared to Cambodia.

Maybe because there's such a diverse blend of folk from all corners of the world, and you can't easily tell who is the owner of a bar/restaurant/hotel/other enterprise and who is some passing through tourist as they aren't allowed to work in their own businesses (pathetic state of affairs imo).

And also, when I go to Thailand I'm either going to meet Thai folk for business related reasons or to attend some sporting event or whore it up, not to meet some purple faced hoarse johns in a shithole on Sukhumvit, that charges $7 for shit draft, who talk in pattaya slag speak and bitch about how "better" their holidays were in the 1980's.

Cambodia is what, almost 17M population and worldometers.info is showing 2 active cases and 0 deaths BTW.

Just look at the mods on CEO, vs. (the lack of mods) on the Thai sites. Look at the (mostly) interesting discussions on CEO vs. the flame wars/chest beating on the others. Then decide who is the more welcoming.

But please take my opinion with a grain of salt. I am the eternal (not anymore) traveller to the Kingdom of Wonder and the one time tourist to Thailand.

Whether you're an expat in Thailand or Cambodia, just be glad you didn't settle in Vietnam. Most long-term expats here lost the plot years ago. Too much bia hoi maybe...

And whatever you do, don't go to Laos.
