That's right. Of course I'm not referring to PP. For me, PP is one of those places that you have to travel through to get to somewhere else. PP is not Cambodia, just like Bangkok is not Thailand. It's fun for a day and night out or two but I wouldn't stay longer. This is my personal preference at this moment in my life, so I'm not dissing people who want to live in PP or BKK or other cities.
Just saying that not everyone wants shopping malls and 7/11s and full service appartments and fancy restaurants and clubs. Outside of PP, life is slower, and that's fine with me. All that shopping mall stuff is way off my radar.
Life in Cambodia is good for me because it's chill. I have enough, even plenty - I have friends and nice people around me, the weather is fine, the food is good, the beer is cold.

Can't complain.
LOL, this is definitely not a "last resort".

You can easily live in Phnom Penh without doing any of those. The problem I have with the countryside is there is no decent choice of food there.

I prefer Khmers to Thais. Less arrogance. Bangkok always looks like an old whore that has had her day. If it wasn't for the titty bars in Pattaya, I'd write the country off completely. If Cambodia had strip joints,it would be the best country in the world. I probably wouldn't go to them, but it would be nice to have them just in case I felt like it.
