Why is a chicken no bird

Post by Francis »

Following question just came to my attention:

Why do Cambodians think that a chicken is no bird, and that a tarantula is no spider ????
Any insights ? What else could it be if not a bird and not a spider ? :-)
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

Please enlighten us king twatflannel, in what way??
Every Cambodian I have ever worked with recognises chickens as birds when it comes to bird flu, and that the things they eat at Skoun are spiders.... interested in your perspective or experience...

I'm guessing the people who think chickens aren't birds think so because they don't fly. I'm sure there are ignorant westerners who think the same.

I've got no guess on the tarantula.

Hey King Dick Twatflannel - you took the effort taking away some more karma points, but you didn't bother answering this.......

How did you come to this conclusion? As I said, never heard (EVER) what you are purporting!

Hey I once read a very good poem about a chicken that learnt to fly.

It was poultry in motion.

They are capable of flying such short distance that I'd call it more a long hop. their style of "flight" is what may be throwing people off.

They can do a lunging flop into low hanging branches but are not capable of sustained flight.

I now have a mental image of you doing a lunging flop.

Up to a low hanging branch.
