amazing, you post some crazy shit, i have never seen any of what u described above, (of course i am not in the bars)MigueIito wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2017 2:31 amthai drug addicted middle-aged horror head ex-bar girl ex-whores are more likely to be the problem. the country is littered with them. those who failed to turn their beauty in to a rich farang catch, or just kept going far too long. they are absolutely BAD news. loud mouthed aggressive persistent in harassing you, change hotel is the only solution.
probably infect the condos too,
guess you only frequent these places?
OP; check out Phuket, (its not just Patong) larger than Samui, cheaper and many places ON the island u can get away from crowds,
Negatives, you NEED ur own transport as the Mafi tuk tuk/taxi's overcharge an there is not that good of a public transport system.
Traffic is getting worse, especially around Patong during rush hours over the hill to Phuket town
Positives: excellent hospitals, range of shopping, entertainment, beaches, fishing, sailing, diving, golf, etc etc
wide range of accommodations from 4,000 baht rooms to 150,000 baht villas overlooking the sea
cheap street food or fine class dining
international airport
Love the Chiang rai area as well but am addicted to the sea:-)

phuketrichard< We will visit early next year then and look well beyond Patong. I thing I got stuck in Patong a lil tiny bit that 1st trip to Thailand... or was it the 2nd?
Hospitals needed in Phuket? Hell I need 'em here!
Is there a flight to Cambodia from Phuket?
I used to race motocross and am still nervous riding around Samui.
Is Phuket safer?
If not, we'd need a car just like would be required on Samui, Phnom Penh, or BKK.
But Sihanoukville & Chiang Mai are probably fine to motorcycle around.

I don't mind breaking bones, but dying is not on the agenda.
The 0620 hour flight with airasia means you got to sleep opposite the airport to make the flight on time because HKT airport is conveniently close to nothing at all.
they are making billion of billions of baht from minivans and taxis but fail to improve service, actualy service has unimproved along with a strong baht....,
Took 3.5 hours fron HKT to Kata beach last trip in the 220 baht minibus....
Minibus driver was off chops on yaba going round in circles..,

Last time I was in Thailand this year I noticed the drivers handing in paperwork and being breathalysed in the bus stations.

I live in Kamala and it takes me 35-40 minutes to airport at any time of the day or night. 15 minutes to Patong. 30minutes to central mall in Phuket town
Lots of people ride bikes here and as long as u watch everywhere ur ok, Much better than Samui's one road around the island. But u'd still want a car for the rainy season.
The thing with 6 months in Thai/6 months in Cambodia. Which 6 in which one. Both rainy seasons are the same period, both high seasons the same period as well.
If you come down, give me a shout,I still think its great here even after 32 years, compared to elsewhere, sure its grown and more traffic, but i no longer need leave the island (like we had to in the 80's) to buy things
