pczz wrote: Tue Feb 06, 2018 11:50 pm Ok thanks for all the advice. I had already tried Canadia and they sent me to the national bank. Got accounts with acleda so will try them tomorrow.
Hope it works out. would be good to know.
I think I had posted before. When I was in Battambang I went to Acleda with £2000 in £20 notes. The casher was sorting through them! Two piles, one good, one not good, due to writing on them. I said stop due to the bigger pile being rejected. I took the cash to a money changer, he took the money to Acleda, he changed all with no problems.
Went to Acleda today and they would not accept it. Told me to go to Ly Hour, so looks like I will have to take a $30 hit. The moral of this story is count and check you notes carefully
can you glue it together with some superglue using a toothpick? ACLEDA is usually very good taking damaged/torn money, as many have mentioned.

Went to head office. they wouldn't opena sterling account without a lease stamped by the police even though I got accounts with them already. Will try Daun penh branch tomorrow, they might be less fussy. I should have asked when I had $40,000 in there, usually gets a helpful response to have a big balance

Took a trip to ly hout head office near orrussey today. Its in google. Anyway they gave me $90 for the $100 blll which I thought ws fair, bearing in mins the local ly hours on preah sihanouk only offered me $70, so problem solved. I was just playing a hunch that the local manager was trying to make some pocket money and I was right :beer1:

"In my bars I make a point of accepting money in any condition... rips, holes, faded areas, tape...
I think it's just good customer service.
And some of the girls' English is not quite up to scratch. I've passed girls saying to customers who have given them a ripped note "your money shit, no good".
So we take any notes, and any hard foreign currency as well. Easy enough to change it later.
Once a month I take all the damaged notes to Acleda where they exchange them without question."
Just as clarification... yes I take any torn, dirty, or defaced notes in our bars - when they are presented as payment for a drinks bill. Or any foreign hard currency, at decent exchange rates. And we are careful not to give torn notes back to customers as change.
I take them about once a month to Acleda, where we have our business accounts, and they change them at face value. Sometimes even without minor grumbling.
Salary day always requires patience. We now have about 120 girls to pay each month and they examine their notes very carefully and ask us to change them if there is some slight blemish.
