Where to buy the best padlock?

Post by Abc123 »

Looking to buy the best quality padlock for the best price in Phnom Penh.
I know there are lots of copies around, so a decent supplier would be great, and if there are a few, the one that offers the best prices.
Cheers

Hardware stores along MTT, there are a few door shops that specialise in selling imported locks and padlocks, and also the Home Fix and Home Top stores sell good quality imported padlocks.

Zeta look good, but how does one buy them? The Facebook shop is all in Khmer. I don't normally do Facebook. :?

You might want to watch this video as this trick is well known here in the KOW and makes padlocks useless as they only take seconds to open.

That guy could have saved himself the trouble if he just used one of the keys to open that padlock. :D

Google solex. there are a couple of resellers of these german locks. 1 version is made in Germany and the other in Thailand so take your pick. For what its worth you are probably better off with a few cheap ones than 1 decent one cos they all break easy with a hammer and it makes more noise and takes longer to break 3. if you are using it for your moto get 2 that firt the disk break so they cant walk off whith it

I bought two very expensive top security rated padlocks from Australia for our bar.
One day we didn’t have the keys. We summonsed a local locksmith. It took him 90 seconds to unlock each expensive padlock, without breaking them.
So personally I think padlocks are all fairly similar and easy for a professional to unlock.
The only thing I’d suggest is getting one that lets you pull out the key without having to close the lock first - it’s much more convenient.
