^^ I guess that means I'm a complete wanker. Please forgive me. I repented years ago.

Re: Where to buy Parrot in Cambo?
Habitat loss and trade are 2 separate phenomena
Animals disappear through habitat loss or through trade the requires they be dead
Keeping living birds is, on the contrary, a way of preserving a species. If a species nears extinction due to logging for example then biologists can make a worldwide call to anyone who has the animal as a pet and breed them and replenish the species.
Keeping pets is also a way of finding new compatible habitats for species. If they are released into the new environment and can breed, they have an additional habitat.

That's a mustache parrot and should be in a cage around 50 times that size - I'm not a member of that group, can anyone tell me how to contact the owner and buy the bird urgently as a rescue?TOG wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 7:09 pmThere is one for sale in Battambang...$35 including the cage.Banshee Cyclops wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2015 5:24 amthanks for the link but I am looking for a parrot that is definitely talkativeAnchor Moy wrote:From General Buy and sell thread:

Is there a reason to keep these type of parrots like are they endangered or is it just to keep as a pet?
Can’t they just be let go or will they die because they’ve been in captivity for so long?

Mine are adopted from others who couldn't keep/care for them, and would die if released.phkachhouk wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 7:59 pm Is there a reason to keep these type of parrots like are they endangered or is it just to keep as a pet?

What's interesting is that the female swears in context. Not ideal in a missionary household, but cute nonetheless. We're still trying to work out how many languages the male has learned as he's been passed from home to home. The mustached parrots live for 40+ years if cared for, so they take some looking after and keeping entertained.

Re: Where to buy Parrot in Cambo?
I've seen the light and will immediately release mine, for fear of you thinking me a wanker. One can't fly, and the other wouldn't survive either, and both are rescues, but we shouldn't be wankers...hanno wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2015 4:31 pm Vernal Hanging Parrots are not uncommon in suitable habitat and easily located by their call when zipping over. There are 5 species of Parakeets and all are disappearing rapidly due to habitat loss and trade. Only a complete wanker would keep one in a cage, or any other bird for that matter.

Re: Where to buy Parrot in Cambo?
Hanno, Chops. You are both right.
because Hanno was probably/certainly referring to normal non-rescue situations. Collectors and pet people who put birds in tiny cages.
And nobody can argue with StroppyChop's rescue efforts for damaged birds.
Sorry to intervene but i think we all love birds.
