Re: What would you bring to Cambodia (if you had the room)?
Thx for the input Hanno and KS.
A potato masher ? Never would have thought of that - I use a fork, but a masher would be better. I would also like a vegetable peeler that works. Any other household goods ? I also need a decent toaster and jug - order in, or find in PP ?
It's also about finding quality - things that actually work for more than a month or so. A lot of things are cheaper to buy in Cambodia, like the suitcases we bought that came out totally smashed on the first plane trip... lol, what a bargain.
More realistic, I would order some liquid for e-cigs. I know that you can find it in PP, but the choice is probably a bit restricted ?
And of course FOOD - cheese, (maybe some real parmeson?), some cans of smoked oysters/mussels and luxury fish products, and sachets of interesting sauces are all on my list.

Yeah, but I suppose there is a supplementary tax at the airport for those sort of things. Unless you disguise them as sextoys, no damn...BOFH wrote:Agreed.John Bingham wrote:Handguns, they are ridiculously expensive here.

I bought a great vegetable peeler at HomeTop in PP.
I have also bought about 10 items from eBay never lost a thing and I have even used USPO which is way cheaper than DHL they wanted $51. to shipping for a $15 an air filter weighing a few ounces and fit in a bubble pouch. I don't have a PO Box just have them put your contact number and they will call when it arrives . Have even bought from Chinese sites through eBay with free shipping just takes a month in Chinese mail.

Decent bras that my girls fit into, bathers, decaf coffee, M&M's, decent towels, knickers, (I'm a size 16-18 you can see the trend), Aussie magazines, sunblock and moisturiser with no whitening
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

It's free of hassle if you follow procedure and have the right papers. I always pick my guns up at the embassy. Never had a problem. Admittedly the Khmers give me a strange look when I open carry.Anchor Moy wrote:Yeah, but I suppose there is a supplementary tax at the airport for those sort of things. a suitcase full of money would be nice!
some Lincolnshire Sausages (Snooky bar claim to do a breakfast with lincolnshire sausages, no they are not lincolnshire sausages, i know, im born and raised in Lincoln)
some decent bacon
Home made Meat Pies,
tbh i dont really know what else, i live a very simple life, im not materialistic, i could do with a microwave for my apartment but im guessing i could just buy one from a shop/market??
im guessing it would mainly be foods and snacks id ask them to bring, some comfort food like

I have had up to 100kg in check in baggage both ways many times.. Sometimes "hiding" another 50kg as carry on...
The craziest must have been when I traveled with a 50kg antic Cambodian mahogany furniture piece before bringing it back here a couple of years later...
In two weeks time my brother in law is bringing me from the states a car radiator and some bike stuff for a total weight of 20kg...
I am never short of ideas when it comes to non indispensable badly needed items...

Good household items available locally, including toasters, at least here in Temple Town.
