What is the best island for couples?
We have the water festival coming up with that nice long weekend. The significant other and I have never been to any of the islands. What is the best out there for couples? We don't care about partying. Would try to get some peace and quiet, a beach chair and/or a good little beach bar.
Sihanoukville or Kep/Kampot islands don't matter. Any suggestions will work.
Please list your reasons why you like the island you suggest.
Thanks so much CEOers.

It's been a long time, but Lazy Beach on Koh Rong Saloem was brilliant. Just beach and bungalows. If it's still run by Rich and Chris, should be what you're after - laid back and you have a private beach except for the odd dive-boats. And good food etc.

Thanks, but $50 per night for a beach bungalow! Wow! Markets, eh?Anchor Moy wrote:It's been a long time, but Lazy Beach on Koh Rong Saloem was brilliant. Just beach and bungalows. Yeah, a " long time ago" was 5 or 6 years ago - LB prices have more than doubled since then.
Most of the accomodation on other islands like Koh Ta Kiev was $20-40 a bungalow when I checked it out last year ( unless you pitch a tent at Crusoes. )
No idea about Koh Rong.
You can get a bungalow on Koh Tonsay for $10 a night, but you also get a lot of daytrippers and all the rubbish they leave behind - esp during holidays. Very basic accomodation: shower is a cold barrel of water, squat toilet, rats sometimes - depends on your comfort zone, but any cheap island accomodation will be similar. (And frankly Lazy Beach wasn't much different, but they have their own beach, which is not usually the case, even if the websites give that impression.) You are paying for the location.
The islands will probably be full of expats fleeing PP that w/e so best to book ahead I'd guess. Let us know if you find somewhere good. We ended up at Koh Tonsay last year.

Ok - hope to see a trip report

Yes, Lazy Beach Bungalows get a big thumbs up. Private/clean beach, nice (simple) bungalows (I like #17), good food and drink. (try the chocolate cock drink.) Book ahead as they get full.

nice thing about treetop is it's so far down the beach that you're away from the party (and it's noise)... but if you feel the urge it's only a 2-3 minute walk away.
let me dig and see if i have any photo's from that trip....
