They operate from a secret base hidden in the swampy depths of the district.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

The night time parts, and much of the daytime parts.

Used to live over the stueng s'oy in Boeung Tompun and at 2am there weren't many friendly folk cruising the streets. My landlord used to sleep in the front room with his service revolver to protect his van.

Are you intending to live out there, or just generally interested in where to find jaos?
What's jaos? No it's not for me, some Khmer friends looking to move and find a safe place for the family. They're coming from a village so don't know the city. Their budget is very limited and they insist on ground floor so that's why we're looking at these areas and not closer in.

Jaos = Theives.

I'm sure it's fine and as safe as any other area. It's one of the most densely populated areas of the city, so that comes with its own problems.

Alternatives to Stung Meanchey could be takhmao and prek pra. Further out, so more countryside feel.

Why broken heart?? From Watching the girls or something more?? Sorry for being uninformed.

I live in Steung Meanchey and have been here the last few years. Im in one of the "rougher" parts. It is never boring for sure. I wont miss it much though when our house is finished being built and we move next month.

My wifes family lives down the street. They can come take care of the kids anytime. Score one for me.

They can also show up anytime for any reason unannounced. Score 1 for karma.

And I live in a western style condo that doesnt really belong or fit in the area. It would probably be $1000 a month if it was in BKK. Only about a quarter of that here in the hood.

stung meanchey is where the old garbage dump used to be.

I remember going there in 2010, it was sketchy ,poor, and extremely dirty.

I came back to OZ with typhoid after that trip I think I caught it from that hexed place.
