What did you expect when you came to live here?

Ask us anything. Cambodia Expats Online has a huge community of long-term expats that can answer any question you may have about life in Cambodia. Have some questions you want to ask before you move to Cambodia? Ask them here. Our community can also answer any questions you have about how to find a job or what kind of work is available for expats in Cambodia, whether you're looking for info about Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or anywhere else in the Kingdom. You're also welcome to ask about visa and work permit questions as well, as the immigration rules change often, especially since COVID-19. Don't be shy, ask CEO's community anything!

Actually they are all reformed and live righteous lives,I have yet to see or hear any negative news about Khmer Americans whom were deported to Cambodia, what I have seen is great projects and programs headed by them which help and benefit the people, the idea that they still partake in forbidden activities here is irrational and judgmentally prejudice
What are you on about now? There have been loads of them jailed here over the years.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I once saw a baby monkey, just a few days old fall onto the road on st 102 and a motodop picked it up. He had to run for his life as a gang of monkeys chased after him. Finally he was convinced by bystanders to give it up.
Whereas the wild monkeys out at Phnom Tamao will tear the baby monkeys apart if tourists only feed the babies - a la "Dian Fossey oops."

When i first came to asia i had expected there to be high speed rails everywhere and lots of clean streets, I figure there would be vending machines that would sell everything and that one would get seizures from watching TV. I figured everything would be fast, efficient, and cost effective. The police would be the law and order type and there would be government surveillance everywhere. The only negative would be the occasional Godzilla attacks. I had the belief that all the men would be computer nerds who love video games and the women would be into weird fetishes like dressing up like cats. I feel like I am in a South American city that does not speak Spanish and Portuguese, I speak Spanish and Portuguese to the Tuk Tuk Drivers when they ask me if I need to go somewhere but they never take me anywhere.
