What borders are open for visa run?

Post by Joolsd »

Hi,

I need to do a visa run as soon as possible as I have 4 days left and already has a one month extension. I heard the Vietnamese border is closed for English and others.

Where is the nearest that will be open?

I guess it's the Thai boarder up past Kampot?

Can't remember the name of it now.

Is that the best choice right now?

Does anyone know an agent who would do for me?

Any advice well appreciated.

Thx

Well there's always an agent... I hear flights are cheap right now. That might work out well too.

Alternatively, I bet round trip tickets to some places in China are going for rock bottom prices right now...
Do you think the parents of baby boomers whined so much when the boomers started changing society? And yet the whiney ones like to call young people "snowflakes." Hmm...

There are many borders with Thailand, you could try any of the ones that accept foreigners to cross. As far as I know UK citizens are not limited in any way to enter Thailand, unless you have been to Thailand too frequently.

I have not heard of any bans on uk passport holders for Thai, viet or laos. if there are restrictions it will be for people travelling direct from uk, not Uk passport holders already here

just cross at a thai border, ( 2 free visa exempt entries/calendar year)
Note ONLY poi pet sometimes is a hassle and requires you to maybe stay overnight.
the others ( Pailin, Koh Kong, Osmach) walk in an out

The border at MOc Bai/Bavet is open all that has stopped is that there is no longer a visa free entry for 14 days for UK and many other passport holders.
You ca get a visa for Vietnam in Phnom Penh before you travel to the border and all is OK except for an additional health form and temperature check. It is also possible to get a visa same day for extra cost. I am not sure if visa on arrival is still accepted at the airport but you can check before you fly.
