Ask us anything. Cambodia Expats Online has a huge community of long-term expats that can answer any question you may have about life in Cambodia. Have some questions you want to ask before you move to Cambodia? Ask them here. Our community can also answer any questions you have about how to find a job or what kind of work is available for expats in Cambodia, whether you're looking for info about Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or anywhere else in the Kingdom. You're also welcome to ask about visa and work permit questions as well, as the immigration rules change often, especially since COVID-19. Don't be shy, ask CEO's community anything!

Not really suprised by this. No malevolence involved IMO just a mix of being not so competent ( education system here is not top notch), relatively bad informatics system and of high frequency of fraud.
Basically you ask the cashier to hand you 5 grand which you will admit it here a respectable amount of money, if the girl is not very familiar with the procedure ( like middle name not important ) she will not pays if she saw something that she thinks is not "right" .

Already in shop I see the vendor cringe each time that I pull out a 100 dollar bill, I supposed they get blame or fined if they accept a false bill. So handing 5000$ in cash to a never seen before customer ( White male Barang I might add who are not particularly know for being honest or solvable on the long term) ? Yes they must positively love to see you, that why they ask you to come again .

All good comment - but the WU agency was in an ABA bank, so you'd think 5K wouldn't be too scary a sum. I take your point on the 100s though, I've started noticing the signage in some establishment "No $100 bills, please, thank you".

You know I had to look up Liverpool Kiss and I am English, yes Liverpool Kiss is a headbutt but so is Glasgow Kiss
It could just be that the Glaswegians I know are far better socialised than Liverpudlians...
