Water cuts in Phnom Penh

Post by programmer »

Are water cuts still common or have they been able to stabilize their network?

I imagine the city being as underdeveloped as it is, things are probably not going to be completely fixed any time soon. If that is the case what do you guys do when the water is off?

I was there up until the end of the dry season this year, which was quite late, and there were no cuts even then. Certainly not in PP Thmey/Sen Sok.

I have been in Phnom Penh over 20 years and never had a water cut.

Earlier this year my water was out a lot, usually from 8 pm onwards. Whatever the issues were they eventually fixed it.

We've got a 2 floor (+mezzanine) shophouse in Phum Damnak (about a mile north of the runway 23 threshold). The water pressure dropped dramatically at the start of the year, making it impossible to get running water above the mezzanine level at pretty much any point of any day between 6am and 11pm. It has improved a little bit since then but most days there is still no running water upstairs during the day and well into the night.
