I want to clear up some misunderstanding about the Chinese

Ask us anything. Cambodia Expats Online has a huge community of long-term expats that can answer any question you may have about life in Cambodia. Have some questions you want to ask before you move to Cambodia? Ask them here. Our community can also answer any questions you have about how to find a job or what kind of work is available for expats in Cambodia, whether you're looking for info about Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or anywhere else in the Kingdom. You're also welcome to ask about visa and work permit questions as well, as the immigration rules change often, especially since COVID-19. Don't be shy, ask CEO's community anything!

Quite the contrary...as a whole, it's my opinion that Americans consider Brits more / better educated, cultured, refined, tolerant, etc...
:please:
I, nor any American i have ever known or met has ever thought that.

Good to have you here kyoshiroxmibu, and OP.
Very brave!

(Never tuned into this thread before. Some of astonishingly blinkered hypocrisy about chinese boorish behaviour is hilarious.
The really funny thing is the total ignorance that, for example, many Cambodians see so much piggish barang behaviour in exactly the same way as some expats see all Chinese.)

I may be missing st but barang also see piggish barang behaviour. It's just that with one step removed it is easier to feel comfortably secure that you won't slide into the cesspit alongside, and therefore it's ok to slag off those two, three, or six degrees separated.
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

A Khmer taxi driver said to me 'we miss brother Barangs. They were perfect for Sihanoukville but the Chinese are selfish and don't want to pay good money. barangs would buy at the small stores but the Chinese refused to do this and instead bought up all the local businesses and threw the Khmer people out on the street!'

Why do Chinese buy up hotels and non Chinese are then banned? That is a policy of ethnic cleansing.

Why do they drive through Sihanoukville at 100 km per hour killing local people?

A friend of mine said ' Sihanoukville was once heaven and now the Chinese have turned it into Hell!'

Yes some Barang people could be rude but most were polite, considerate and kind. [Mod edit: removed racial slur]

Presumably a taxi driver would have a pretty intimate view of local life. more so than an infrequent visitor who lives in UK. Sneering superiority is quite unbecoming.

Do you think he says to Chinese customers “We very happy you’re here. Much better than long noses.” Or maybe Russian customers “It was so much better when you were committing crimes and controlling the place. Not like these Chinese”.

Put the axe away bent.

And who lives in the UK? Coming from someone who spends half his life in the US of A. Lol.
