Transfer USD Overseas with ABA

Post by WillieW »

Is it straightforward enough to use Transferwise to send USD into GBP to the UK from ABA bank? I believe it can all be done on the ABA app. Anyone have experience of using this?

I am very interested to hear if this works out for you. Are you going to use the SWIFT option on the ABA app to get the $'s to TransferWise?

What I have found is that if I make a SWIFT money transfer from my UK bank to ABA Cambodia, is the bank in the UK has your recent mobile number, but they also only let my transfer go through if I am on my own WiFi.

I don't know what the Swift option means? I know that 2 years ago I successfully did it all on the ABA app with transferwise. - they were called something else then. About a month later I got an email from ABA Bank asking me questions about the transaction. But never heard anything more from them after. Just wanted to see if anyone else had done it recently .

Would not like to do any transfer involving UK banks exchanging the currencies. Did it once before and they robbed me blind. Always get the Asian bank to do the exchange and pay all fees to the Asian bank. UK banks are terrible compared to Asian banks.

You can open a Wise account in different currencies. Have Wise hold your money not the bank (transfer from the bank or have it sent to Wise). Transferring USD to anywhere other than US can be tricky and probably why you were quizzed.

Or look at Wing and WorldRemit.
