Traditional gift for newborn?
A Khmer couple who we are very close to had their first baby today. Anyone advise on an appropriate gift and whether to visit at the hospital? We've already given a significant gift, but unsure whether to give fruit, flowers, 4WD...

Bracelets and a bag of books. They will be in business on the riverside within a week.

some chips for naga world, gift voucher for child boutique, the classic -gold (small coin, these tiny bars or a chain), a savings account with some money.
wouldnt go to hospital, if your not a female relative, imo.
normally gifts are given at the baptism party?
but your all the while coming along with "substantial" gifts or what?

Re: Traditional gift for newborn?
Go to the hospital and take a fruit basket with you. That's more than enough.
When we had my daughters we had everyone turn up with fruit, we had so much I thought about renting a stall at the market the get rid of some. The wife loved it though. Whenever she goes to visit her friend after they have had a baby this is always the gift given.
