Tourist Visas????

Post by Matty9999 »

Hey guys i was wondering has anyone heard when our time is up???? re:tourist visas

I am an American citizen who is here on a tourist visa that I applied for back in February, with entry in March. I entered in March - i had another tourist visa for Vietnam but of course they will not allow entry so that expired. From my understanding, im still good with the Cambodia tourist visa at present time. Does anyone know if thats still true? The original tourist visa was supposed to have lasted 60 days which was in May, but of course now its almost December.

If you have news, please link it.

I've never heard of a 60 day tourist visa. Did you get a 30 day tourist visa and extend it for 30 days and then it ran out in May? I know there was a sort of grace period for expired visas given for stranded tourists, but I'm not sure that was meant to be forever. Have you been to see immigration recently?

Thanks a lot! Thailand expelled those of us inside there, after a 6 month extension, thats why that place is a ghost town.

If I were you I'd immediately see a travel agent and see what needs to be done. If in PP and an agent doesn't know then I'd head to immigration.

I think your time was up several months ago. You MIGHT be able to plead that the US is getting overrun so you want to stay to be safe from the virus and will return when its safe - and point to a print out of the page provided.

Your in a foreign country with no valid visa. Not a good position to be in.

says cause no flights, as there plenty of flights to plenty of countries (even new kid is sending his wife to the states)
I'd head to immigration Yesterday

FYI
thailand made it plenty easy to get extensions even now and using an agent is even easier.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

will do, ill go tomorrow and post update for whoever might be in the same situation with the same visa.

I think probably they arent going to force someone to go back to a country with rampant CV, if it shows up on my passport as an overstay i can easily explain why.

I hope i dont end up detained in the immigration police headquarters wish me luck!

:thumb: Ok keep us posted. For sure there are people in the same situation as you.
I met two Ukrainian guys who were planning a week in Cambodia before heading off elsewhere in Asia, and they were still stuck in Cambodia months later. They arrived on a tourist visa, but they did not want to return to Ukraine, and could not go anywhere else due to covid restrictions.
A lot of travellers are still in limbo if they don't want to return home.
Good luck to the OP and everyone in the same situation.

The exemption is still in effect, the Government has not given any indication of an end date. Those who have been leaving the country recently on expired Tourist Visas have not been charged any overstay fines.

Trying to enforce the "until they will be able to leave the country" is in the DoI's too hard basket ;)

Even the DoI are telling people who go to ask directly not to worry as they are still covered by the automatic granting of extensions and waiver of overstay fines.
