Why? The content is almost entirely visual slapstick. Little need to speak or understand English.

why?
i didnt realise an old British programme,
that i used to watch as a kid when it came out in the early 90's
would be popular in Cambodia in 2017...

im British, Rowan Atkinson is/was huge here,
i was surprised he was still popular in a random country the other side of the world 25+ years after i used to watch it as a kid,
i would have thought Mr.Bean would seem dated to the millennial generation, but its still absolute comedy gold

Not English but US ...The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park ??? Some cartoon movies maybe ? Or Shrek etc ?
Or episodes of Friends or Sex in the City ? Depends on her tastes.
Most English humour is a little difficult for non-native speakers. Except of course, Benny Hill. What about Ab Fab ?

Fair point there but do you not think that the humour in Family Guy and South Park would be even more difficult to follow, especially with all the American references ?

That's why I said that it depends on what the girlfriend likes - and can identify with. I've watched the Simpsons in three different languages and it's the familarity of the characters and the scenario that helped me follow the plot even if the language is difficult.
I can say firsthand that both cartoons and animated movies helped me a lot to learn a second language and culture. It's entertaining visually, and it doesn't matter too much if you don't understand all the dialogue at first.
Just IMO of course. Everyone has their own way of learning.

Family Guy has sure helped my kids to learn all the swear words.
